Q: HOW DO I KNOW IF MY LITTLE LEAGUER IS WITHIN GRLL BOUNDARIES

A: The GRLL Boundary map can be found here:

https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=14GNDxlPRKevS4kWyD43YHcqQkDA&ll=46.31185478785237%2C-119.34964350000001&z=11

Q: WHAT DOES THE TERM "LEAGUE AGE" MEAN?

A: The term "League Age" refers to the age your player is on the date determined to be the "cut-off" date by Little League International for the current season of play. For tee ball and/or baseball, League Age is determined as the age your player is on August 31 of the current year.

Note that players are placed on age and skill appropriate teams. All players must be League Age 5 to 13 years to participate.

Q: WHEN, WHERE AND HOW CAN I REGISTER MY CHILD?

A: Both new and returning players are registered online using the GRLL website home page at www.grll.org by clicking on the registration information link. Registrations for the Spring season begins January 1st each year. There is an “early-bird” registration period ($40 discount, excluding T-Ball) if you register and pay in the month of January.

Q: WHY DOES REGISTRATION OPEN SO FAR IN ADVANCE OF THE SEASON?

A: Registrations for the GRLL Spring season opens in January as the league needs to identify the number of potential players as early as possible in order to schedule fields, order equipment, recruit and train enough managers and coaches, etc. We are also required to charter team counts and player registration data with Little League International prior to the Season.

Q: CAN I GET A DISCOUNT IF I HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHILD REGISTERED?

A: GRLL offers discounts for families with multiple kids registered within the league. 2nd sibling gets a $35.00 discount and 3rd sibling gets a $60.00 discount.

Q: ARE REFUNDS AVAILABLE?

A: Greater Richland offers limited refunds. All Registration refunds are subject to a $25 administrative fee. Refunds are available up to the date of evaluations for drafted divisions of play, and up to March 1st for undrafted levels of play.

Contact our player agent @  [email protected] to discuss a refund.

Q: WHY ARE THERE PLAYER MANDATORY TRYOUTS FOR DRAFTED LEVELS?

A: GRLL conducts player evaluations for all drafted divisions of play (typically 9 to 13 years olds) in order to fairly evaluate each player across a determined set of skills including catching, throwing, base running, hitting and pitching. This allows us to 1) ensure that players are playing at the most appropriate level, 2) help avoid any safety risks to an individual player, and 3) help to ensure competitive parity across teams playing within the same division.

Q: CAN MY CHILD "PLAY UP" AT A HIGHER DIVISION THAN STATED?

A: Requests to have your child "play up" at a higher division are possible; however the player must undergo evaluations to ensure their maturity-level, skill set, and capabilities are adequate and that your player will not be a safety risk at a higher level. GRLL highly recommends parents consider all potential factors when making such request, most importantly the impact such a move may have on the players likelihood of having fun and success. Parents may petition the player agent(s) for their division of play for an evaluation to move up a division. The player must have experience in the given division prior to advancing.

Q: WHEN DO PRACTICES AND GAMES BEGIN?

A: Practices and games typically start in March and take place on weekday evenings and on Saturdays. Actual games schedules will be communicated to the team manager once available.

Q:  HOW CAN I ACCESS MY TEAM AND PRACTICE/GAME SCHEDULES

A: GRLL uses a free app called Sports SignUp (SSU) Play. Once all teams have been finalized and uploaded in our League’s system, they will become available within the SSU App. The SSU app can be downloaded for both iPhone and Google users and you can login using the same login information used during registration.

Practice schedules are the responsibility of each team manager and will be communicated once fields are assigned and the manager determines chooses the day(s) of the week practices will be held. This is at the discretion of each Manager and they may upload practice schedules to the SSU Play App.

Games schedules will be posted to the GRLL website (grll.org) and made available within the SSU Play App once all teams have been finalized and field schedules are assigned.

Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL MY CHILD NEED?

A: Players in all divisions will need to purchase a glove, baseball pants, a belt, athletic supporter and cup (boys only), and socks. It is advised to wait to purchase pants, belts, and socks until colors can be discussed with managers. Helmets and bats will be provided for each team, however most players elect to purchase their own. Rubber baseball cleats are recommended instead of regular running shoes. Metal cleats are not permitted.

Q: DOES LITTLE LEAGUE REQUIRE A CERTAIN BAT TYPE?

A: Little League requires baseball bats which meet the USA Baseball Bat Standard (USABats). Official Bat Rules and information can be found on the National Little League Page here: https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/bat-rules/

Q: WHEN ARE UNIFORMS HANDED OUT?

A: Players will get their uniforms before their first scheduled game from their team managers.

Q: HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER?

A: As a 100% volunteer-based league, we depend on volunteers to assist at every level including managers, coaches, board members, event organizers, schedulers, field maintenance, etc.

If you would like to volunteer, please complete the Little League Volunteer Form and return it to any manager, coach or board member.
